Privacy Policy

Effective date: 1 January 2026 · Last updated: 2026

Your privacy matters to us. This policy describes how DriveRent handles your personal information when you use our self-drive car and bike rental platform.

1. Introduction

DriveRent ("we", "our", "us") operates a self-drive car and bike rental platform across India. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you browse our website, create an account, complete KYC, or book a vehicle.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account details: name, email, phone number, and login credentials.
  • Identity & KYC: driving license, government ID (Aadhaar/PAN), and selfie verification for booking eligibility.
  • Booking data: pickup/drop locations, dates, vehicle selection, payment method, and trip history.
  • Payment information: transaction IDs and payment status. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Device & usage data: browser type, IP address, pages visited, and app/PWA usage for security and analytics.
  • Communications: support tickets, chat messages, and feedback you send to our team.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Process bookings, verify eligibility, and manage vehicle pickup and return.
  • Calculate pricing, apply coupons, and process refunds or security deposit settlements.
  • Send booking confirmations, reminders, and important service updates.
  • Improve our platform, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations.
  • Personalize vehicle recommendations and saved preferences (wishlist, locations).

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited information with:

  • Payment partners (UPI, card, net banking gateways) to complete transactions.
  • Insurance and roadside assistance providers when required for an active trip.
  • Law enforcement or regulators when required by applicable Indian law.
  • Service providers who help us operate the platform (hosting, SMS, email) under strict confidentiality.

5. Data Retention

We retain account and booking records for as long as your account is active and as required for tax, legal, and dispute resolution purposes (typically up to 7 years for financial records). KYC documents are stored securely and may be deleted upon verified account closure request, subject to regulatory requirements.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and improve site performance. Our PWA may store session data on your device. You can clear browser cookies at any time, though some features (login, saved bookings) may not work without them.

7. Your Rights

  • Access and review the personal data associated with your account.
  • Request correction of inaccurate profile or KYC information.
  • Request deletion of your account, subject to pending bookings or legal holds.
  • Opt out of promotional communications while still receiving booking alerts.
  • Withdraw consent for optional data processing where applicable.

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and secure storage for sensitive documents. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we encourage strong passwords and prompt reporting of suspicious activity.

9. Children's Privacy

DriveRent services are not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. Users under 21 may rent two-wheelers; four-wheeler rentals require the driver to be at least 21 with a valid license.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of DriveRent after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
